Christmas Customs



One of the Romanian Christmas customs related to spinning and weaving wool, usually of the women were very proud, weaving for the family so they wore clothes and home decoration items such as towels, bedding. They gathered in sezatoare, many more families to a house to have more growth and warm and friendly atmosphere that exists. Older women younger gave advice, initiating them into teaching spinning and weaving wool and hemp. Besides being in sezatoare be worked at the same time was also a good opportunity to learn the news that circulated in the community, to tell riddles, proverbs, to sing ballads, carols to learn, that is to be keep alive the Romanian folklore.

Unul dintre obiceiurile de Craciun ale romanilor este legat de torsul si tesutul lanii, obicei de care femeile erau tare mandre, tesand pentru familie atat hainele pe care le purtau cat si obiecte de impodobit casa cum ar fi stergarele, paturile. Se adunau in sezatori, cate mai multe familii la o casa pentru a avea mai mult spor si pentru atmosfera prieteneasca si calda care exista. Femeile mai varstnice le dadeau sfaturi celor mai tinere, initiindu-le in aceasta meserie de tors si tesut lana si canepa. Pe langa faptul ca in sezatori se muncea, in acelasi timp era si un bun prilej pentru a afla vestile care circulau in comunitate, de a se spune ghicitori, proverbe, de a se canta balade, de a se invata colinde, adica de a se pastra viu folclorul romanesc.
